Bike Shipping Details

As part of the 2018 Life Time Tri Championship event experience, we are proud to unveil bike shipping details — easily the most valuable incentive for those qualifying into the July 1, 2018 event in New York City.

The program will proudly be managed by TriBike Transport (TBT), the industry leader in safe, efficient and dependable transportation and logistics. Qualifiers across the country receive TBT’s fully assembled bike transport service to/from the TBT bike corral located near the transition area within New York City’s Riverside Park.

How It Works

The program couldn’t be simpler. Championship qualifiers will find the “2XU New York City Triathlon” within the TriBike Transport Event Calendar, where they select from more than 50 local partner bike shops as their preferred drop-off location. The system will indicate an approximate drop-off date and retailer address for athletes to deliver their bike.

Qualifiers will be emailed a unique code, redeemable for one complimentary Fully Assembled Transport service within TBT’s online reservation system. Athletes may opt-into additional services (transport Wheel or Gear bags) at their own expense. All reservations must be placed by June 1, 2018.

On the requested drop-off date, athletes must drop their bikes (fully assembled) to the respective pick-up location. The bikes will be professionally loaded onboard TBT’s truck, then transported to the Transition Area within Riverside Park for pick-up beginning Friday afternoon, June 29.

Following Sunday’s event, athletes can drop-off their bikes to TriBike Transport’s same Riverside Park location between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. TBT’s team will then transport the bikes to the point of origin, where athletes must reclaim their equipment. Approximate return dates will be announced as the event draws near.

The Registration Process

Question Answer
How do I register? The top 3 winners in all International distance competitive divisions will earn entry into the Championship. Much like the Ironman World Championship process, once winners are announced at their respective Awards Ceremony, they may proceed directly to the Awards Tent to register (on-site) for the 2018 event.

2018 Championship qualifiers who do not register on-site (at their respective Awards Ceremony) will be able to register online via private email link, distributed after the event.

Registrations for those who qualify at a 2017 event must be processed by 11:59 p.m. CDT on October 27, 2017.  South Beach and CapTex individual qualifiers (both 2018 events) must register for the Championship by April 22 and June 4 respectively.

Full payment will be required to confirm entry.

Note: See the special exception below for any 2017 Life Time Tri Minneapolis qualifiers.

Which divisions will qualify? The following International distance divisions* will qualify:

  • All Five Year Age Groups (19 & Under thru 80+)
  • Premier Amateurs (open and masters)
  • Clydesdales/Athenas (open and masters)
  • Para Tri (ambulatory, wheelchair, visually impaired)
  • First-Responders/Military
  • Collegiate

* Exception: Life Time Tri San Diego Sprint distance participants can qualify, as the event does not offer International distance.

Relays and non competitive divisions are not eligible.

What is the entry fee? Entry for qualifiers into the 2018 Life Time Tri Championship event is $310, inclusive of insurance and online registration fees.
How do I earn free bike shipping? Complimentary bike shipping is available to the first 50 qualifying individuals to register within each market, not including New York City. This is on a first-come, first serve basis. These slots are expected to sell-out at each event’s respective Awards Ceremony.
How will bike shipping work? Approximately 7-14 days prior to the 2018 Championship event, our shipping partner will pick-up bikes from a dedicated, centralized bike shop within each Life Time Tri market (Miami, Austin, Minneapolis, Chicago, Tempe and San Diego). Bikes will be delivered directly to NYC’s Riverside Park (Transition Area), assembled and available prior to the event. Following the event, bikes may be dropped-off at the same location for shipping back to their origin destination.

Exact bike shop locations will be announced soon.

How do I earn a multi-region entry? Those wishing to qualify for the 2018 Life Time Tri Championship event using the multi-race option are required to cross a finish line, placing in the top half of their age group, in at least two separate regions during the qualifying race season, which concludes at the 2018 Life Time Tri CapTex Triathlon (full list above).

Qualifying participants are required to contact to request guaranteed entry. The multi-region entry is limited to the first 100 applicants. Requests for the 2018 Championship event must be requested and processed by EOD October 27, 2017.

For those planning to qualify for multi-region entry utilizing either the South Beach and/or CapTex Triathlons, individuals must alert the Athlete Services team of their intent prior to October 27, 2017, or before the 100 applicant quota is reached, whichever happens first. Relevant slots will be placed on hold for those on track to qualify with their forthcoming results. Should these individuals qualify, they must register for the Championship event by April 22 (if using South Beach results) or June 4 (CapTex) respectively.

What if I qualified at the 2017 MPLS Triathlon? Those who earned an award within any competitive division within the International distance have earned a slot within the 2018 Life Time Tri Championship event (July 1, New York City). Because that announcement happened after the MPLS Tri, those qualifying participants will be noticed via email of their status.

Registration for those MPLS Tri qualifiers will open Monday, July 17 via private email link. The first 50 to register will earn the complimentary bike shipping (from a centralized Minneapolis location) prior to the July 1, 2018 event in New York City.

Beginning with the 2017 2XU New York City Triathlon on July 16, Life Time Tri Championship qualifiers will be able to register on-site (during the Awards Ceremony).

Note: This Life Time Tri Championship is a separate qualification vs. the USAT National Championship event (to be held August 12 in Omaha). Enrollment for USAT Nationals will come directly from USA Triathlon.

Will general entry into the 2018 2XU New York City Triathlon still be available? Yes. The 2018 Life Time Tri Championship event is a separate competition, set within the 2018 2XU New York City Triathlon. Both competitions will be hosted on Sunday, July 1, 2018 in New York City.

The general registration process for the 2018 2XU New York City Triathlon will open on November 1, 2017. The event is expect to sell-out quickly.

How does the roll down process work? The top 3 winners in all International distance competitive divisions will earn entry into the Championship. Much like the Ironman roll-down process, once winners are announced at their respective Awards Ceremony, they may proceed directly to the Awards Tent to register (on-site) for the 2018 event.

Athletes placing in 4th or 5th place within their respective, competitive divisions may be allowed to claim possible Championship entries if the minimum quantity of 50 per market (the free bike shipping allotment) is not reached. These “roll down” spots will be available, only on-site, first-come, first-served once the full Awards Ceremony concludes.

Those athletes interested in this opportunity are advised to visit the Awards Stage for full details. Full payment will be required.

Am I eligible to qualify if racing the Chicago Triathlon Triple Challenge? Yes. The top three Triple Challenge female and male finishers (using cumulative time across all three events) will qualify for the Championship.

Further, if Triple Challenge participants do not earn a top three placement, they may default to using their International distance net finish time toward a multi-region entry.
