In order to promote safety, the Panasonic New York City Triathlon requires each swim participant to have successfully completed an OPEN WATER (not in a pool) swim with a minimum distance of ½ mile within 18 months prior to the 2015 race date.

Local open water swims that meet the swim requirement:
1. Looking for a chance to jump in the Hudson before race day? Complete your swim requirement at the New Amsterdam City Swim on June 21, 2015 at Pier 45 in Manhattan. This 1500m swim is the same distance as on race day and is organized to raise awareness and money for medical research to fight ALS. Learn more at newamsterdamcityswim.com.
2. Head over to Coney Island and swim with Empire Tri Club. The club hosts several open water swim clinics leading up to the race day. These clinics are led by experienced coaches that will help you not only meet your requirement, but also really prepare for the race. Learn more at empiretriclub.com.
*Remember, any ½ mile swim in the open water will meet the swim requirement. It does not need to be part of an organized swim.
Champions Club is officially sold out! Still looking to race? Reach out to one of our official charity partners!
