Local open water swims that meet the swim requirement:
1. Looking for a chance to jump in the Hudson before race day? Complete your swim requirement at the New Amsterdam City Swim on June 21, 2015 at Pier 45 in Manhattan. This 1500m swim is the same distance as on race day and is organized to raise awareness and money for medical research to fight ALS. Learn more at newamsterdamcityswim.com.
2. Head over to Coney Island and swim with Empire Tri Club. The club hosts several open water swim clinics leading up to the race day. These clinics are led by experienced coaches that will help you not only meet your requirement, but also really prepare for the race. Learn more at empiretriclub.com.
3. For our athletes on the other side of the Hudson, Ridgewood Tri Athlete (RTA) in Bergen County, New Jersey is offering several open water clinics between now and race day. Full details on what to bring and what you can expect may be found at ridgewoodtriathlete.com.
4. Wyckoff Family YMCA is also hosting a special open water swim at their “Lap the Lake” event on June 13 in northern Jersey. They offer several distances that will help with your training and preparation for race day. Click here to download the official entry form.
*Remember, any ½ mile swim in the open water will meet the swim requirement. It does not need to be part of an organized swim.
