Organization Description: The CityKids Foundation- Established in 1985, CityKids fosters academic excellence, youth development, leadership skills, and a successful transition into adulthood for more than 800 high-risk young people annually. In doing so we fulfill our mission to empower urban young people, ages 13 to 19, through arts and educational programs to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in school, the workplace, and in life. We fulfill this mission through two core programs:
CityKids University provides 250 high school students who have been identified as at risk of high school failure, with individualized academic and social support; as well as intense college and career prep. Arts and Leadership programs provides formal and informal arts-based programs to all participants while at CityKids. Artistic Exposure and training includes: performance arts, such as drama, vocal training, dance and creative writing, music and film production, photography and muralism.
At CityKids, the arts play a central role in advancing our mission. We are firm believers that academic and social success can only be fully achieved through exposure to the arts. Through original, interactive issue-based performances and workshops that reach 25,000 people annually. We continue pushing forward, creating a safe and supportive environment for our participants, and challenging them to better themselves.
Requirements: CityKids would like each athlete participating in the entire triathlon or as part of a team to raise $2,000.
