The Lottery for the 2012 Aquaphor NYC Triathlon is now closed.
2012 Aquaphor NYC Triathlon Lottery Process
Due to popular demand, registration for the Aquaphor New York City Triathlon will once again be through a random lottery, rather than on a first come first serve basis. Please note: the process has changed for the better since last year. Here’s how it works:
- The lottery will be open for 6 days, opening November 1, 2011 at 12:01 AM EST and closing November 6, 2011 at 11:59 PM EST. The Lottery registration link will appear on this page, at www.nyctri.com, and will be emailed to all athletes on our mailing list. To join our mailing list, click here.
- You may enter the lottery online. There is a non-refundable online fee of $11.00 per athlete. Applicants may register for the lottery as an Individual, as a Relay, or as a Group.
- You may also enter the lottery via a mail-in application. To request an application and more details, email allie@korffenterprises.com by October 20, 2012.
- Individual Registration Instructions: Athlete will register themselves individually in the Age Group category, Elite Age Group category (must have qualifying time), Clydesdale/Athena category (men over 200lbs and women over 150lbs.) or First Responders category. If selected through the lottery, athlete will be charged $284 (includes Active.com processing fee).
- Relay Registration Instructions: Only one athlete needs to register the relay team for the lottery and should do so in the Relay category. The relay captain, registering the team, will complete registration information for all members. The relay captain will be charged the full registration fee of $369 (includes Active.com processing fee) if the relay team is selected. Relay entrants should not enter as a Group.
- Group Registration Instructions: Group registration is for families, friends or other small groups (between 2-5 members) that only want to race if they can do so together. Group entries will enter the lottery as an individual, but if that individual is selected, everyone in the group will also be selected.
- A member of the group must be designated as the captain and must first create a “Group Name”. The captain will create the Group Name and register at the same time in the “Group Captains Create & Join Your Group Here” category. Once the captain has registered and the Group Name has been created, the others (up to 5 total), will be able to join the group.
- Group Members will register in the “Group Member Join Your Group Here’ category and will select the Group Name (team captain’s name will be listed next to the group name) from a drop down list on the registration form. Note; you can only sign up as either an individual or as part of a group – not both – and you will not be able to change your status from individual registrant to group registrant once you have signed up. Individuals who sign up as both an individual and as a member of a group will have all of their registrations disqualified.
- The lottery includes a non-refundable online fee of $11 per athlete, with the exception of a relay team which pays an $11 fee for the entire team. The lottery fee is not applied towards the race entry fee. Only one application per person. Any fees processed due to individuals submitting duplicate applications are non-refundable.
- Each registrant will be required to fill out the registration form for The New York City Triathlon in its entirety. You must complete this form as if you are registering for the triathlon. Individuals’ credit cards will automatically be charged,
- At the time of lottery registration you must indicate if you are currently a USAT member. If you are selected and have indicated that you are not a current USAT member Individuals will be charged an additional $10 fee for a 1-day USAT license and Relay Captains will be charged an additional $10 for each relay member that is not a USAT member.
- DECLINED CREDIT CARDS – If you are selected and Active.com attempts to charge your credit card, and it is declined for any reason (insufficient funds, expired, etc.), you will be immediately disqualified. You may see a declined notice post to your credit card statement, however only those with successful charges will be accepted. All lottery registrants will be notified of their status by Friday, November 11, 2011.
- After the lottery closes, there will be an electronic random drawing of all applications. The Aquaphor New York City Triathlon has contracted a 3rd party to supervise and certify the 2012 Aquaphor New York City Triathlon lottery selection process.
- All applicants will be notified via e-mail by Friday, November 11 as to their registration status.
- All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable; details here.
