Ever wonder what Manhattan looks like from a blimp? Now's your chance to know with the NYC Tri course fly-over. You'll need to download this file and install Google Earth, unless you've already got it. Then, within the "Places" window click the plus sign next to "NYCTRI.kmz," hightlight "Course Fly-Over" and click the play button.
Here are some viewing tips:
- Crank up the speed. The course fly-over should never take longer than the actual race. In Google Earth, click "Tools" and select "Options." Then, under the "Touring" tab, move the "Speed" slider about 3/4 of the way to "Fast." Feel free to experiment
- Get rid of the extras. Under the "Layers" window (bottom left) you should uncheck things like "Roads," "3D Buildings," and "Borders and Labels." You can always turn them back on later, but this will help you see only important NYC Tri items.
- Take a look around. After you've watched the fly-over, feel free to explore the course at your leisure. You can use the navigating tools in the upper right corner to rotate and zoom all around the NYC Tri course.
