About SISTEM
SISTEM is a specialized events massage team. We have worked many prestigious sporting events. Among the most notable, we have provided massage for the New York City Triathlon for over 5 years and for elite athletes of the NY Road Runners club. Our mission is to grow athlete care as an intrinsic component of races.
Athlete care complements intense training by utilizing bodywork to promote athletic endurance and performance. Goals of bodywork can be focused to help heal strained muscles, allow healthy ones to reach peak performance and maintain muscles while minimizing the risk of injury.

The SISTEM Team
Charles Pegg, Executive Director, a lifetime athlete and veteran of providing athlete care. Past competitions span from the UK to the US with impressive performances in Ironmans, triathlons and marathons. He has held All American USAT Rankings and as a member of Tri SISTEM, our team of triathletes, he will be racing in the elite wave at this year’s NYC Tri. He is thrilled to have SISTEM therapists be the exclusive provider of massage and athlete care services at the NYC Tri.
Jenn Sommermann, Director of Business Development, has been on Tri SISTEM since its inception. Massage therapist, educator at Swedish Institute and business consultant, Jenn loves to balance her work life with competing. "Triathlon is more than a sport; it's a way of life". Since turning 40, Jenn has joined the sport and competed in a dozen events. This year's season will take her all over the world, competing in eight events, to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Research. Eva Huie, Director of External Communications and Operations, has helped to develop new business models such as Athlete Care clinics for weekend warriors and competitive athletes. As a recent graduate of the Swedish Institute she is thrilled to be part of SISTEM where she fuels dynamic team work through the implementation of enhanced communications and specialized training.
Thom Paul, Events Manager, is truly the “people’s people man.” His 20+ years in physical culture includes exercise, martial arts and massage therapy which is backed by a BA in Psychology. He is an educator at the Swedish Institute with a specialized focus on Sports Massage. As a core member of SISTEM he manages all local events including the NYC Tri, ING NYC Marathon and the Westchester Tri.
Carrie Dean, Events Supervisor, is a graduate of Florida Academy of Massage and the Swedish Institute. She is delighted to be a part of SISTEM, offering massage at many NYC sporting events, including the ING NYC Marathon. She has also had the opportunity to provide athlete care to the NYRR elite runners. Carrie continues to work with many athletes in her NYC based, full time massage practice.
Karin Linner, Tri SISTEM Team Captain, has had All American USAT rankings for the last three years. She has won the NYC elite division, won her age group at Escape from Alcatraz, competed in the Lifetime Fitness Championships and has a bronze medal from the Swedish National Championships, among other triathlon accomplishments. This year she has decided to give competitions a rest while she focuses on growing her massage therapy practice. On race day she will be sharing her energy and skill by looking after the Tri SISTEM team members and supervising our massage therapist staff. Her competitors will get a break from Karin on the course and can come see her in the massage tent instead.
